Saudi Arabia has expressed strong approval of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to prioritize diplomacy in resolving the conflict with Iran. In a statement made on Wednesday, the Kingdom’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, highlighted the importance of diplomatic efforts in achieving an acceptable agreement to end hostilities. He emphasized the significance of restoring security and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to return conditions to how they were before February 28th, 2026. Prince Faisal underscored that addressing all areas of contention is essential for the region’s security and stability.

The remarks from the Saudi Foreign Minister followed President Trump’s announcement that he had postponed a planned military strike on Iran, initially scheduled for Tuesday. This decision reportedly came after requests from leaders in the Gulf, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Trump stated on Monday that “serious negotiations are now taking place,” suggesting a potential diplomatic breakthrough in the ongoing tensions.

Expressing optimism, Prince Faisal conveyed Saudi Arabia’s hope that Iran will seize this diplomatic opportunity to avoid further escalation, which could have serious consequences for the region. He called on Iran to engage constructively with ongoing efforts to advance negotiations, aiming for a comprehensive agreement that would ensure lasting peace both regionally and globally.

In addition to acknowledging the role of the United States, Prince Faisal also recognized the efforts of Pakistan in mediating the conflict. The Kingdom appreciates the contributions of various international players working towards a peaceful resolution, as maintaining stability in the Middle East remains a priority for all involved parties.
