Saudi Arabia and France are advancing their collaborative efforts in the library sector, with a focus on digital preservation, knowledge exchange, and professional training. This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Abdulrahman Al-Asem, CEO of the Saudi Libraries Commission, and Patrick Maisonnave, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The meeting took place in Riyadh, where the two parties reviewed their ongoing collaboration and explored new avenues for expertise sharing.
A key component of these discussions was an executive program between the Saudi Libraries Commission and the National Library of France. This program aims to digitize library materials, exchange electronic copies, develop digital collections, and provide professional training. Such efforts are intended to enhance the accessibility and preservation of cultural and literary resources in both countries.
Additionally, the two sides examined joint projects scheduled for 2026, which aim to further expand cultural and knowledge-based cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France. These projects reflect a mutual interest in strengthening ties in the library sector and enhancing the exchange of knowledge and cultural heritage.
